The SWSF represents Steiner, or Waldof, education in the islands of Britain & Ireland. The Council of the Fellowship consists of representatives of each full member school & maintains links & provides support for newer, sponsored schools & interest groups. Steiner teacher training & early years groups are also represented. Fellowship schools are mainstream schools, as distinct from homes & establishments for young people whose development requires specialised care & support. An - non-accredited - Affiliated category of membership, however, is open to curative & non-school orientated activities.
The Fellowship is a U.K. registered charity (no. 295104) with its registered office in Sussex (registered company no. 519230), it provides: general information & membership services (including pedagogical & administrative advice), organises relevant conferences, coordinates political lobbying, curriculum & related research & a publications department for books, articles & the termly newsletter.
SWSF is a founding organisation of the European Council for Steiner Waldorf Education and at present carries much of the administration for this group (a Council of representatives of Waldorf associations). SWSF sustains links with other like-minded groups, associations & individuals nationally & internationally.
